Update! - late though. It covers up to last Thursday.
Basically, neither one of us have been updating the blog recently. Though its really not a fail, or a lack of effort. Blame the IB. Too much work, with finals and college stuff, to create nice hearty entries. Hopefully, we will find more time, though maybe not until final exams (excluding weekends). SO. A recap - of our past really super stimulating week. Because, you know, I can tell you all really care. Lah.
Chrissy:
Wens: Golf team dinner at Wagas. It was fun, we all showed up not on time. There was a general merriment and excitement over the consumption of smoothies.
Thursday- Sunday: Bangkok SESAC tounie. We arrived in Bangkok, lost over 10+% of our money in currency exchange which made me sad - what would I eat or buy? But then, we hoped in a bus and drove two hours to our "resort" golf-hotel. It was located smack dab in Middle-of-Nowhere, Thailand. Like it was in an area filled with fields, and dirt roads that had cows(?) standing in the middle. So I guess, even if we wanted to there was nowhere to shop. Everything was hours away! Wait, there was a small connivance store somewhere in an hour proximity that was filled with nasty, cheaply made Thai snacks...our coaches were not allowed to golf one day so they went there. I am not sure why they weren't allowed to golf, but there were some major errors in communication. Like we were told there would be Internet, a pool, and a gym...there wasn't really any of that. I wasn't sad about the gym or pool though, its not that big of a deal, but I needed the Internet for school work. Speaking of work, while everyone was playing cards guess who was working on their TOK essay? ME! aha. And its not even good. I will have to rewrite it. Lame. All that work. But I didn't work the whole time! We were done golfing at either 1-3ish (depending on the tee time) and then the rest of the day was free! Which means C.O.D! Sweet Victory! Other than that, the golf greens were too hard, it was like golfing on concrete. All the rooms were infested with bugs, some people cried, and the only edible piece of food was ice cream! It was fun! It was an experience! How can you say no to eating Coca-a-cola and maybole ( i am unsure of the name...it like berries and cream) ice cream! Also, on the plane I watched 500 Days of Summer (i had seen it before), Up!, G.I. Joe, and Adam.
Reviews:
500 Days of Summer-
When I first saw it I liked it. I thought it was cute and original, but then when I saw it I think all the hype was overdone. It...it tries to hard to be "indie" that quirkiness that you can't have if you have a decent size budget. They try to be like the low budget Euro-films but in the end look pretentious. Other than that, the trying-too-hard-to-be-cleaver-and-oh-so-hipster-nism its pretty decent. I recommend seeing it, there is a nice soundtrack and its funny. I think I would give it a 6.7/10 - thats good on my scale. Given the content: I do NOT recommend having Joachim see it. He would be sad.
Up!:
AMAZING! I LAUGHED! AND CRIED! And as soon as I landed, the first thing I told Joachim was to go watch Up! Seriously, it's maybe my favorite Pixar and one of the best of 2009. GO WATCH IT! 10/10
Adam:
Pretty good, its more serious about a man with Asberger's and a woman falling in love. The acting, the plot, the subject and the originality are all great. Its slower, and one of the low budget "art" films. I really liked it, but the only other person I know who would maybe want to watch it would be my friend Eleanor in Indiana. I give it maybe a 7.5/10
G.I. Joe:
I had to turn it off. It was so bad. The worst part was, I wanted to watch a mindless slick movie - but this was just horrid. There was no ... style or anything interesting. 0/10
The rest of the week I worked worked. Essays, oral presentations, tests, all that jazz. But ... today is turkey day?
Joachim:
My week was not quite as exciting as Chrissy's. I believe with my amazing language ability and my very to-the-point menality I can sum it up in 18 about words:
29 hours of Dragon Age:Online
4 hours of Call of Duty Modern Warfare and Team Fortress 2
And you know, the longer I play Dragon Age:Online the further away the ending seems to go... I will make an indepth review post once I have completely completed the game to my satisfaction, which could still be a while. But honestly other than computer games and a lot a lot of school work.. (it was intense), all I really did was talk to Chrissy when she came online and when she wasn't online I missed her. Yep, the sad truth of it all...
Chrissy & Joachim.
