Blue Frog

I have long considered Blue Frog to be a sort of culinary phenomenon. The food bland at times, the atmosphere loud and uncontrolled, the service not always up to par, expensive dishes, and yet.. business seems good. There is always someone in a Blue Frog restaurant, and during rush hours.. its near impossible to find a seat anywhere to eat.

The food is not always what you want it to be. The first time I went to Blue Frog, which was about three years ago, it was amazing. However, the menus and style have changed and in my opinion, the food is now more bland and just not as good. It seems that Blue Frog has given up its quality for a more mainstream approach. I ordered a Salmon and Cheese Omelet. The egg tasted artificial, however, the melted cheese and salmon saved it, but not really... because our orders came in a random order. And in my opinion, the food is expensive for what it is. My omelet cost 80 RMB.

Service wise. The waiters and waitresses are super friendly and always will try and help you much as they can, however, their hard work is done injustice when it comes to the condensed and over-populated layout of the restaurant. Get used to bumping elbows and knocking chairs into tables.. Its crowded and stuffy, and just tiny for the amount of people crammed to get their food. And with more people, it means more dirt, and yes its true.. the staff has a hard time keeping up with the customers flowing in and out through both doors. Another tendency at Blue Frog is for orders to get mixed up and to arrive at your table at all times during your lunch or dinner. Appetizers will arrive after main courses.. drinks may never make it.. Its just too busy, and not to mention the difficulty of communication with the other people at your table. Its very loud.

On a bonus note: Blue Frog is a great restaurant for families, the Jinqiao outlet is located literally 10 meters away from a soccer field, and has its own playground. Furthermore, Blue Frog is famous for its Happy Hour.. and it is a well deserved honor. Just make sure you know when it is, and make sure you have a reservation to enjoy it...

To be honest, the best part of the food is the French fries and nachos, they really never disappoint. The rest on the other hand has its ups and downs.

If you are wondering why the pictures are seemingly surrounded in an aura of darkness.. its the tables... But don't be fooled, bring sunglasses if you go to Blue Frog, the amount of sunlight that will shine in on a sunny day is enough to make eating your food a blinding process.

All in all:
*1/2 of *****

Because its "Sprite" was 7Up.
