The Best of the Best

Lady Gaga – Lady Gaga wants to dress like a mouse.  So she does.  Lady Gaga  wants to go about her daily activities not wearing pants. So she does.  Lady Gaga wants to sing in cyber-punkish lingerie to the hottest Swedish men in the hottest music video.  She does.  Oh Lady Gaga, if I were half as fierce as you I would die a complete person.  I would be fulfilled.  I do wake up and say “What Would Gaga Wear” when looking at my closet.  Then realizing that I epically fail on all her fashion standards, I sadly have to resort to my typical look.

Androids:  You know you are a geek when you spend you summer writing about “The Extent of the Impact of Androids on Cognitive Development”.  For better or for worse, I was locked away having to read the rare books from many libraries that I couldn't’t take back with me to Shanghai.  Androids are cool.  Choosing to do your Extended Essay after one of your favorite movies/books “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” is not.  Live and learn.

Oatmeal & Lava Cakes: I went through a phase where I ate prepackaged individual Oatmeal daily.  I was in love with a goopy, sodium-filled, substance with faint traces of cinnamon and raisins. Disgusting.  I still can’t eat oatmeal, I over consumed it.  On the bright side, I know have higher standards, as witnessed by the summer when nightly I would make chocolate lava cakes.  I would talk to Joachim, it would be around 2 in the morning, and make myself a lava cake.  Skills. Or no life.

Star Trek: Joachim and I saw Star Trek  three different times in Shanghainese theaters. Most people I know, have never been to a theater once let alone twice in one week.  Haha.  Does it sound better if I add in that there was Cold Stone that you could take into the theater? The rest of the year was filled with watching Star Trek: Original Series in the summer, and then getting back together having our own little Star Trek marathons. Yay to nerds!

Dragon Age: Playing with Joachim: C.O.D, Halo, TF2, Left 4 just can’t compete.  Dragon Age wins, its like Lord of the Rings…but on your computer. Control your destiny! And I hope I impress him...somewhat

Pet Shop Boys's "Love Ext.": I love this song.  It brings memories of the happiest bit of the year Junior Spring, when Joachim and I would just go out to the nicest place in Shanghai to eat dinner and the weather was great.  It brings memories of going to the IMAX for the first time to see Star Trek.  On top of that, it just an amazing song.  One of my all time favorites, certainly my current long lasting favorite, songs! I can't really say much more on it, other than hearing it in my head makes me quite happy!

My favorite thing of 2009 was Joachim:  He took care of me when I was sick, for three months, when beforehand we had only dated a month.  I think that shows how wonderful he is, and how lucky I am. As a friend of mine pointed out "most guys would have left".  And he still takes care of me!  Though, most memories are private I can say that he isn't afraid to do loving little things like play with Henry (the cat pictured earlier) or when I am sick put together a tray for me, with a tea pot and some food, all laid out properly. While this seems like nothing extraordinary, this is just the bottom level! I got a catch, I wish my attempts to pay him back weren't so futile! The best thing about 2009 was hands down a whole year with the best boyfriend!
