Chrissy and I have been to Origin two times, and I have to say, not once was there any disappointment. Located in Taikang Lu, there is really no place better for a restaurant with Origin's style and design. So if location is a worry, fear not, for Origin is where you need it to be and in no place better.

The menu is another impressive attribute in Origin's success. The menu has a wide range of different dishes, and they are all healthy, organic and fresh. Vegetarians, vegans and meat-eaters alike will readily find something to eat. From the lush salad with arugula, feta, sun dried tomatoes, and champagne vinaigrette to the ahi tuna sandwich with avocado, wasabi ginger and salad filling. Every course type is covered, delicious deserts, salads, sandwiches, steaks, fish... they really have it all. Their apple crisp is the best I have had  in Shanghai, and one of the best desserts of the city.  And if you are a connoisseur of wine, their wine list has the newer neo-organic wines. And if you are not one for wine, they have fruit drinks, and really almost anything imaginable.

Along with a great menu comes the interior, and the origin style. Origin emphasizes its all natural and healthy attitude through the wooden interior, with candles, and Moby-esq feel. Its quite minimalistic, and organic.  It is one of the most comfortable and relaxed places to eat, and with the dark and dim lighting and the atmosphere it is also an amazing place for a date. Chrissy and I were, and remain deeply impressed, in fact, we just planned to return for a third visit.

An added bonus is their extreme, yet not over-the-top, look into health and sustainability.  There is no frying or freezing.  Their fresh squeezed juices emphasize adding antioxidants to restore their depletion from the body from Shanghai's extreme pollution.  They state the health benefits of each juice.  All ingredients are locally and freshly grown with nothing unnatural to aid their growth, like pesticides. 

But most of all, I can't really stress enough how great the food is.  Some of the best we have had in Shanghai, and as you know we have been to many restaurants!  If you like Slice, Element Fresh, Wagas or Zentral then I guarantee you, Origin tops it all! Really just amazing.  The food is that delicious.
